Baltimorecityparks.com was initially created to provide information and data in support of creating a special benefits district at Patterson Park. Eventually the website evolved and added park profiles and articles that explore different advantages of investing in parks along with ideas for funding, managing, maintaining and operating Baltimore’s park system. Ultimately this website seeks to advance discussions on how to improve Baltimore’s park system for residents and park users.
Currently, baltimorecityparks.com is maintained and managed by Scott M. Richmond. Scott is a lawyer, former President of the Board of Directors of the Friends of Patterson Park and a former member of the Patterson Park Master Plan Steering Committee. He first became involved with park related issues when Baltimore City proposed inserting ninety-six parking spaces and a loop road in Patterson Park to support a Senior Center operating inside park grounds. After that ill-advised proposal was scrapped, Scott has worked closely with the Friends of Patterson Park to ensure that Patterson Park remains well maintained and funded under challenging budget conditions.
It should be noted that neither Scott, nor this website, are affiliated with the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks.
